Dear Fam,
I'm trying out a moisturizing routine while I leave my hair out. Since I went natural I have tried to wear my hair out but it usually doesn't last even a week because my hair get so dry it looks like it's not growing at all. So I've always been doing protective hairstyles and wigs. With that I feel more comfortable that my hair is growing and keeps moisture much longer. But this time I want to try something different to see how long it's gonna last.
I washed my hair this weekend, and started this new routine below:
1. From my first morning - this Monday, I just spritz lightly and make the traditional natural hair puff.
2. In the evening, I will soak my hair wet in the shower and massage my scalp.
3. After this, I will wrap an old cotton baby wrapper - both of my boys used it, around my hear for....I don't how many minutes  till just when I feel like unwrapping.
4. Apply my mixed oils - Aloe oil & coconut oil.
5. Make my puff again and wrap my satin scarf or put on my satin cap to sleep.
6. In the morning, I spritz on hair and fluff it up with my wide tooth comb. And i'm ready to go!
Well, since Monday I've felt like my hair is not unmanageable b itself and it's not as dry i it used to seem before. GOD, I hope this works well
See you next time

Onyinye Olufunmi Nwangwu shouldn't "too much water" be impossible with natural African hair? Especially when you aren't concerned with how big your hair appears - shrinkage, and are more focused on healthy hair.

Really? I also heard about water only rinse which at minimum you rinse your hair every other day with water only. And believe my hair is so thick and kinky. It's the only way can tame it for now

Onyinye Olufunmi Nwangwu I heard the same thing too a while back. Looked into it and it's a false claim. The only time time daily use of water presents a challenge is when you're all about your hair looking real big or long. Water activated our coil factor and brings on what many call shrinkage. If ...View More

I think this routine is well balanced - a spritz & a shower in a day, in a tropical country like The Gambia is very much ideal for keeping hair & scalp clean, plus also giving the hair all the moisture it needs.

Fatou Bom Bittaye could you please take pictures on a daily basis for us. Let's see how your hair responds to this routine over the course of the period you'll be sticking to it. We could then compare before and after pics and maybe even track the progress of the results you get out of it. That thou...View More

Yea Kume Ozoro it is usually dry (too much sun) and dusty in The Gambia, so one need a lot of moisture to keep up.
